Condition-Specific Massage Therapy is a versatile book that outlines treatment goals for relieving musculoskeletal conditions in the context of a relaxation/wellness massage session. Students in a basic 500-700 hour program and practicing therapists will both benefit from the techniques outlined, as well as build upon critical thinking and basic massage skills. This book will prepare therapists and students both in the clinical and spa setting for dealing with common musculoskeletal conditions. Templated chapters for eleven of these common conditions apply foundational science to massage practice and move the student from understanding each condition to assessing and working with the client. Each chapter ends with a Professional Growth section, which encourages further exploration and critical thinking.

More and more consumers of massage therapy are using it to address specific complaints. With the possibility of massage therapy being covered by insurance, therapists who can assess signs and symptoms and plan treatment goals will have an advantage in the market. But not all schools want to teach clinical Massage. Condition-Specific Massage Therapy offers an entrée into specific treatment without being heavily clinical. Written in simple language, CSMT provides the critical thinking tools students need to assess and address common conditions using the hands-on skills they already have, regardless of modality.

의왕출장마사지 As a former Technical Writer and Instructional Designer and a current Massage Therapist, I find this book, Condition-Specific Massage Therapy, extremely well laid out and easy to follow. It's also packed with extremely useful info! Unlike some of the other books on massage therapy research and technique that I've seen, this book has the illustrations worthy of a Human Kinetics series book and ties solid massage research into each chapter. Condition Specific Massage Therapy makes a great reference book and teaching tool.

Ms. Bucci's book begins with an intro chapter that covers:

* Basic biomechanics

* Common sign and symptoms

* Tissue texture issues

* ROM basics

* General massage principles and application info

* Physiological affects of different massage strokes!

The rest of the book is broken into chapters by condition:

* Hyperkyposis

* Tension headaches

* Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

의왕출장마사지 Each condition-specific chapter provides the following info related to the condition being treated:

* Understanding the condition (anatomy involved, signs nad symptoms, potential causes and contributing factors, other conditions that may contribute to the condition, contraindications, current research on the condition)

* Working with the client

I hope this book is used by instructors at massage schools to help students understand specific musculoskeletal conditions AND help students learn how to apply massage research to our work.
